Team East Climbs High & Heads to NH

With the weather in Killington still not entirely on our side, Team East made another journey to Rutland for some core training at Green Mountain Rock Climbing. Brit, Kelly, Lisa, and Katie had a blast tackling the bouldering walls and a series of higher top-rope routes. Everyone learned to safely climb and belay using a Grigri. Kelly and Brit continued with their silly voices and ridiculous antics, and everyone appreciated the help of Steve and Dave, the climber-dude aficionados who were working today.

Tomorrow, we head further East to Bretton Woods in NH to ski... on snow... down a mountain. Woohoo!!!

A Cloudy Day in Mammoth Looks Like...

We are still enjoying the sunshine and firm snow; the girls are working hard and making great strides in their skiing. Days are filled with training and studying, working on equipment and doing dryland workouts, then we find time for food and video. I love everyone's effort!

Pine Hill Park Scavenger Hunt

Team East decided to kick the Killington Blues with a road trip to scenic Rutland. We embarked on Pine Hill Park for a scavenger hunt of epic proportions. Before we split up in the woods, we gathered for a lesson on map reading and some prime group photo opps.

Kelly, Brit, & Lisa learn how to read the trail map.

Brit, Kelly, & Lisa pose on one of the infamous Pine Hill Park bridges.

Kelly & Brit demonstrate the support a teammate should offer when one attempts a brilliant leap off a steep cliff.

Team East then embarked on a wild scavenger hunt to the top of Strong Angel and then out to the suspension bridge on Overlook. Afterward, Kelly described the conditioning experience: "It was so cool. I felt like I was on 'The Amazing Race'."
Finally, we concluded with a snowball fight using the Zamboni shavings from Giorgetti Ice Rink.

Team East is certainly deserving of some creativity points for finding ways to keep fit and have fun despite a lack of optimal training weather. Keeping our fingers crossed for snow very soon!

Team East Skis KTown

Early morning skiing at Killington was as good as could be expected given recent weather patterns. Bluebird days aren't exclusive to Colorado and California. Every so often, the heavens clear and blue sky shines through in the fine state of Vermont. Lisa S., Brit A., Kelly R., and special guest Jill B. ripped it up on Rime this morning for a handful of free runs.

Brit A., Jill B., and Kelly R. smile from the lift on a beautiful Sunday.

Team East Skates to Sushi

Not everyone is lucky enough to travel to Mammoth at 2:30am. Some of us had to stay behind, hit up Public Skating at Union Arena in Woodstock and then get our fill of Chinese and Japanese at Sushi Yoshi.

With rain outside, Team East hit the rink and spent 2 hours this afternoon learning to hockey stop, skate backwards, change direction, increase momentum, and skate circles. We would have pictures to post if Kelly's camera battery didn't die every time we tried to take a photo.

But there IS evidence of the Team East dinner at Sushi Yoshi. Special guests Coach Greg and J3 Kate F. tagged along because they wanted to be in the presence of greatness.

How goes it with Team West? You guys make it to Mammoth yet? Sweet dreams to all once you arrive!
